Documentation/manual/instructions?

Documentation
The Help is nearby
This was just to good to leave at the Sourceforge forum.

Recently there was a thread at the Help Forum at Sourceforge, and I saw this brilliant answer by dr_kludge ( Greg Morgan ).
I have modified the text a little bit for readability, and to fit better into this context - but all the golddust are at your hands.

Here we go:

"If you need to get around in phpws as the admin, then this is a great starting link: http://phpwebsite.appstate.edu/manual/html/
This piece of documentation is a great improvement from the early 9x days.

What kind of files are you editing at this point? After reading the manual above and understand how to pick a theme, you may want to modify a theme.

Here's a good link with tutorials:

(You must boot into MS Windows to view the flash movie.)

Here's a community link that is not commercial:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/phpwebsite-comm/

Here's another link gathering community information:

I don't mean to slight any of the other module or theme developers, but here's a couple.

Both 8x and 9x. Choose only 9x, if that is what you are using.

Getting into modules?

Programming
If you really want some bits on your hands...
If you want to get in deep, then the Staffman module is heavily documented:
https://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?group_id=81360&release_id=174977

download:
https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=81360&release_id=180189
Untar and look around. Start with the index.php file.

Background for the above module:
http://res1.stddev.appstate.edu/horde/chora/cvs.php/layout/docs/theme_creation.txt

http://res1.stddev.appstate.edu/horde/chora/co.php/layout/docs/devdoc.txt?r=1.3

A bare bones module in cvs. Hit the view link on each page. It is in the upper right hand corner:
http://res1.stddev.appstate.edu/horde/chora/cvs.php/skeleton/index.php.
Browsing around in CVS where all the files are stored may or may not help you.

Depending on your intent you will need to look for and acquire php, database(mysql, postgresql), cascading style sheet, html, web server, and system admin skills to do advanced things. If you are looking to just how to use the system as you have installed in, then the manual link above should be a good starter although system admin skills will be vital. As with all software, depending on your prior skills, it may take a bit to hit critical mass.

I hope this information helps. It is some of the information that I've collected to work on several of my projects that have been sitting on hold for along time. phpWebSite is a great frame work. The team has done provided lots of functionality to be tapped."
